Dr. Edwin Oei, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Radiology at Erasmus MC Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He leads an active research line (Advanced Musculoskeletal Imaging Research Erasmus MC; ADMIRE; www.admire-group.com) on imaging of musculoskeletal diseases, with an emphasis on imaging of osteoarthritis. His group, consisting of 11 PhD students and 2 post-docs, uses advanced imaging techniques, including quantitative MRI and ultrasound, nuclear imaging methods, and novel hybrid imaging tools such as PET/MRI to characterize different tissues and disease processes involved in osteoarthritis. His research is directed at technical development, validation, application in clinical and population studies, and image analysis. In addition, Dr. Oei also is active in more conventional imaging methods for osteoarhritis, such as radiography and morphological MRI. Dr. Oei is an esteemed lecturer in imaging of osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders, and is active in many clinical and imaging-related professional societies and committees. He will be the co-host of the International Workshop on Osteoarthritis Imaging from June 30 to July 3, 2021, in Rotterdam.
